故事发生在山西省汶水县云周西村，年幼的刘胡兰（池华琼 饰）当了儿童团长，协助大人们做力所能及的抗日工作，带领伙伴们站岗放哨查路条。抗战胜利后，阎匪来了，刘胡兰参加了妇女干部培训班，懂得了更多革命道理。1946年6月，她光荣加入共产党。被组织派回村组织妇女做军鞋、送公粮，支援前线。并与伙伴雪梅（李秀东 饰）乔装混入伪公所，将敌人骗出，交政府镇压。1947年某日，因叛徒出卖，刘胡兰和部分村干部被捕，阎匪张大胡子（李兰发 饰）威逼利诱，逼迫她说出暗藏党员和农会干部名单，不然就铡死她，刘胡兰大义凛然，厉声回答：怕死就不当共产党员！然后从容躺在已经杀害过六名村干部的铡刀下......。During World War II, a small German squadron was assigned the task of carrying a shipment of Nazi gold across the African desert.
